Dundee-based McKenna Group – with over twenty years of Electrical & Mechanical experience – has been awarded the contract with Affertons Funeral Care to transform their new property into a state of the art facility which is due to open in the summer.
Affertons – a mainstay of the Dundee funeral market – was displaced from its former premises on Dundee’s Clepington Road following a fire early last year. It has been temporarily operating from 32 Court Street, Dundee.
The exciting new property is located on Strathmartine Road in Dundee, the site of the former House of Pisces tropical fish shop. The 540 square metre building will include x capacity funeral service rooms, private viewing rooms and garage facilities for the vehicle fleet. McKenna Group are providing the electrical and plumbing installations along with fire and security systems.
Renowned for their sensitive, caring and dignified services, Affertons wanted to create a welcoming setting that everyone would feel comfortable in. This vision has been evident throughout the planning process.
Affertons Funeral Care Director Paul Craigie said: “We’re excited to be working towards the opening of our new premises, which will be state of the art and will mean we can enhance and expand on the services we already offer. We had hoped to have our new premises ready by the end of last year but, like many construction projects, we’ve been delayed because of the COVID pandemic. Huge thanks to McKenna Group for their support with the project so far.”
Ian McKenna, Director of McKenna Group, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the contract for Affertons’ new property, the planning of which highlights the compassion they show for their recently bereaved clients. The facilities and investment being made will prove a fantastic funeral provision for Dundee’s diverse community.”
