Contract Win: Milltimber Primary School, Aberdeen

The replacement Milltimber Primary is one of four new schools being built in Aberdeen City as part of a £100 million investment by Aberdeen City Council.

Education Scotland had previously highlighted that the existing school could not accommodate the capacity required  for the expected increase in pupil numbers. The new primary school situated six miles south west of Aberdeen will ensure that pupils living in the growing catchment area can continue to attend their local primary school with other children from their community.

Robertson Construction, the development’s main contractor, broke ground on 24 August 2020 and is expected to complete the project in around 16 months.

The new school will be a single-storey, with space for 434 primary and 60 nursery pupils.

It will include 14 classrooms and an activity area, as well as an all-weather 3G synthetic sports pitch.  The new purpose built facility has been designed to offer wide and flexible learning opportunities to provide the best possible learning environment.

McKenna Group are delighted to be appointed as the main building services provider for this exciting and innovative project.  The contract includes full Building Information Modeling (BIM) design along with the supply and installation of all electrical, mechanical, fire & security systems.
